Denver Children's Home 16th Annual Golf Tournament
In memory of Mike Betts, Sr.
On Monday, May 23, 2011 at Lakewood Country Club, Denver Children’s Home held their 16th Annual Golf Tournament. This was a sold out tournament, with both long-time and new supporters hitting the green to help support the programs at Denver Children’s Home. With an unfriendly weather forecast, participants were grateful for the on and off sunshine throughout the day.
The tournament had two great Hole in One prizes - a new Mustang convertible courtesy of O’Meara Ford and a trip to Pebble Beach courtesy of CoBiz Financial but no lucky winners this year. Participants also got the opportunity to interact with a some kids from Denver Children’s Home on Hole #18 at the DCH Kid Putt game.
After the tournament players attended the dinner and Awards Ceremony hosted by Occasions by Sandy and beverages were provided by Molson Coors and DiVino Wine. During the Awards Ceremony Dr. Rebecca Hea, Executive Director, talked about the history of the Golf Tournament, honored the Mike Betts’ family who were in attendance, and introduced one of the DCH kids, Jacque, who gave a heartfelt speech about how Denver Children’s Home changed her for the better.
Nearly $25,000 was raised for the programs at Denver Children’s Home! The Annual Golf Tournament was created in memory of Mike Betts, Sr., a friend and former DCH Board President. Mike was an avid golf player and through this event we honor his passion for golf and his dedication to Denver Children’s Home.
Denver Children’s Home would like to thank all the volunteers, players, and sponsors for making this event a success and for supporting those served by Denver Children’s Home. A very special thank you goes to the Golf Tournament Chair, Heather Holleman, whose enthusiasm, energy, and time dedicated to planning this event cannot be repaid.
