DENVER CHILDREN’S HOME has a long-standing, successful history of working with Colorado’s most vulnerable children and families— those that struggle with the effects of poverty, abuse, neglect, exposure to violence, and suffer from chronic mental health problems and educational disabilities related to these experiences.
BANSBACH ACADEMY’S, Denver Children’s Home’s onsite education program, mission is to be a stable, safe, engaging community dedicated to guiding every child on academic and socio-emotional success.
WE BELIEVE:
LIFE/CAREER SKILLS
provides opportunities that simulate skills necessary to attend school, live in a home of their own, maintain a job, make friends, and contribute to their community.
INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS
teaches man agement of details of daily life and taking care of one’s needs.
FUNCTIONAL ACADEMICS CIRRICULUM
teaches skills which allow students to succeed in real-life situations at home, school, work, and the community. Each student’s curriculum is based on the IEP individual, specific outcome needs.
ESSENTIAL SOCIAL SKILLS
focuses on relationship development, effective communication, moral development, and problem solving skills necessary to function in a group, with friends and family, at school and work.
BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT follows a positive behavior support system focusing on Safety, Teamwork, Attitude, Respect, and Self-responsibility (STARS).
ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT provides a highly structured, well managed learning environment with predictable, clearly defined routines, expectations, and schedules.
COUNSELING through group, individual, and/or family therapy focuses on behavior, family, and traditional adolescent problems, personal problem-solving skills, and interpersonal relationships.
