RESIDENTIAL
At Denver Children’s Home, the young people that come to us have experienced significant trauma, including abuse, neglect, family disruption, and other difficult life experiences. These experiences can deeply affect emotions, behavior, learning, and relationships.
Our Residential Program is available year-round and provides a safe, structured, and supportive place for youth ages 9–18 who need more intensive care than outpatient or lower levels of care can provide.
Youth live in a structured, nurturing environment with 24/7 support from trained staff who understand trauma and child development. Each young person receives an individualized treatment plan based on their strengths, needs, and goals.
Our Residential Program is designed to help youth stabilize, heal, and begin building healthier habits—while also reducing the likelihood of hospitalization, repeated placement changes, or involvement in the juvenile justice system.
What the Program Includes
Each child is paired with a dedicated therapist who provides weekly individual therapy, with family therapy included when appropriate. Our clinical team also includes a psychiatrist who regularly evaluates each child’s progress alongside a clinical psychologist who oversees and supports the therapeutic work of the team. This collaborative approach ensures that every child receives holistic, tailored care.
Youth receive a combination of evidence-based therapeutic interventions and academic support through The Bansbach Academy. Interventions include individual therapy, family therapy (when appropriate), group therapy, experiential therapy, family visits/passes (when appropriate), and skill-building focused on coping, communication, and emotional regulation. We also offer experiential therapeutic activities that may include art, music, movement, yoga, horticulture, and animal-assisted therapy.
Education as Part of Healing
All youth attend The Bansbach Academy, our on-site accredited school. Education is integrated into treatment so that students can continue learning in a supportive environment designed for their success.
By addressing both mental health needs and academic goals, we help children build skills that support their development and prepare them for a successful future.
Our Goal
Our goal is simple: help each young person feel safe, build emotional and behavioral skills, reconnect with family when possible, and transition to settings that support their success.
“Thank you all for helping my grandma and me. We are truly changed people from when we started this journey.”
